Welcome to St. Mary Magdalen parish. We are a Roman Catholic community nestled at the foot of the north Berkeley hills. We are part of the larger Catholic community of the Diocese of Oakland and we are steeped in the Dominican tradition. Since its creation in 1923, the parish has been staffed by the friars of Order of Preachers of the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus (Western Dominican Province, USA). The School of the Madeleine, our exemplary parish school, was founded by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose.
You are welcome at St. Mary Magdalen whether you are just beginning to explore Catholicism or have been Catholic all your life, whether you are already an active member of the community or have been on the periphery. We draw our strength from Jesus’ gift of himself in the Eucharistic Banquet and the other sacraments.
As you can see by looking around the website, we take our call to be of service to one another, fellow parishioners and any who come to our door, very seriously. Please look around and see where God might be drawing you to be a part of our active, diverse and dynamic community.
St. Mary Magdalen, Apostola Apostolorum (Apostle to the Apostles), pray for us!
