In fourth grade we study California History in Social Studies including the California Missions, California/Oregon Trails, the Gold Rush, and the role California has played in the modern development of America. We will study Literature through the use of the Open Court Reading system, digital resources such as RAZ, and through literary works such as ‘Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing’, ‘James and the Giant Peach’, ‘Igraine the Brave’, and others. We will study science concepts through hands-on lab work focusing on energy, electromagnetism, and geology. We will study important foundational mathematics concepts such as arithmetic, decimals, fractions, measurement, and introductory geometry. This is in addition to the fourth grade art, religion, PE, Spanish, library, and Caring School Community classes.
